Initial Connection

1. Make sure you have installed the Helper on the computer you want to remote control.
   • Mac users will also need to download and install SIMBL.
   • See frontpage for links.
2. Start or restart Spotify.
3. Make sure the computer and the iPhone are on the same wireless network
4. Tap the “New”-button on the initial screen in Remoteless.
   • Computers with the Helper installed should automatically appear.
5. Tap the computer you want to control.
6. Type in the number provided in the window that pops-up on your computer.

In some cases this will not work because of firewalls or other special set ups, if this is the case try to make a manual connection.

Music Navigation

You can start music either by choosing from you favorites, search for new music or browse playlists. To do this tap the “Browse”-button.

Favorites

This will be empty to start with, but you can fill it up by adding favorites. Choose “Add to favorites” after searching for a track, album or artist.

Playlists

All the Spotify playlists on the computer you are remote controlling are available through Remoteless. If you want to “save” a playlist to Remoteless you will need to import it. This option is found under the “more”-tab.

Social share

Tap the “menu”-button and then choose the method of sharing; twitter, facebook or e-mail. The tweet will look like “Listening to: <track> by <artist> (via http://remoteless.no #iphone #spotify #remote)”. For facebook and e-mail a picture of the album will be included in addition to the track info.

Manual Connection

To connect to a computer running Spotify trough a firewall etc. choose “Setup manual connection” at the botton of the “New Connection” screen.

A manual connection requires that you know the IP-address (Mac instructions, Windows instructions) for your computer, and that this address is available from your device. Do not change the port if you are not a qualified geek

This feature can also be used to control Spotify from an iPhone that is on a different wireless network, thus waking up your roommate from work by turning on the music in your shared apartment.

Regional filtering

In Spotify, different music is available in different regions. Spotify Remoteless is by default matching your iPhone’s location and normally this matches your Spotify region. If you however use a norwegian iPhone in Spain, you need to tap the “Country:XX” button on the welcome screen and align Remoteless’ and Spotify’s region.
